Clomipramine (Anafranil 25 mg) and Lasmiditan: interaction and safety

This source-based reference is not a personal treatment recommendation. The relevance and management of an interaction depend on the exact products, route, dose and clinical situation.

Interaction mechanism

Potential additive central nervous system depression, sedation and impaired coordination. Combined serotonergic effects can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.

Clinical significance and safety

Lasmiditan with clomipramine can add to sedation and may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. The label advises caution with CNS depressants and serotonergic antidepressants; individual coadministration studies are not available for every medicine. Driving or operating machinery must be avoided for at least eight hours after lasmiditan, even if the person feels alert. Fever, marked agitation, muscle rigidity, tremor or poor coordination after use require urgent medical assessment.

Using this information

This is a source-based reference record, not a recommendation to combine, stop or change medicines. A missing interaction record does not establish safe use. A qualified healthcare professional should consider the exact products, doses, other medicines and individual health circumstances.
