Daridorexant and Oxycodone: interaction and safety

This source-based reference is not a personal treatment recommendation. The relevance and management of an interaction depend on the exact products, route, dose and clinical situation.

Interaction mechanism

Additive central nervous system and respiratory depression.

Clinical significance and safety

Oxycodone and daridorexant can have additive depressant effects. Opioid prescribing information warns that other CNS depressants, including sedative-hypnotics, can increase the risk of profound sedation, low blood pressure, respiratory depression, coma or death; daridorexant labeling also warns about additive CNS impairment with opioids. This serious-risk classification is not a blanket contraindication or a prediction that every patient will be harmed. Any co-prescribing needs an individual clinician-directed plan and monitoring; do not independently start, stop or change either medicine. Very slow breathing, inability to wake or collapse requires emergency help.

Using this information

This is a source-based reference record, not a recommendation to combine, stop or change medicines. A missing interaction record does not establish safe use. A qualified healthcare professional should consider the exact products, doses, other medicines and individual health circumstances.
