Ritonavir-boosted darunavir increases tenofovir exposure.
Clinical significance and safety
This interaction concerns darunavir given with ritonavir, as specified in the TDF label. Raised tenofovir exposure can increase TDF-associated adverse effects, including renal toxicity, and the team should review monitoring and the full regimen. It should not be generalized to unboosted darunavir or to tenofovir alafenamide.
