Uses<\/h2>\n

Ibrutinib inhibits Bruton tyrosine kinase and is used for selected B-cell cancers, including chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, mantle cell lymphoma and Waldenstr\u00f6m macroglobulinaemia under the EU label. The indication, treatment line and combination partners vary by country. This summary covers oral cancer formulations rather than assuming every international indication applies in Turkey.<\/p>\n

Administration<\/h2>\n

Capsules or tablets are swallowed whole with water as prescribed. Do not open, chew or crush them. The specialist determines treatment duration and combination sequencing. Avoid grapefruit and Seville oranges. Tell the team about planned surgery or dental procedures because interruption may be needed to manage bleeding risk.<\/p>\n

Safety<\/h2>\n

Major bleeding, serious infections, reduced blood counts, hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias require monitoring. Seek urgent assessment for uncontrolled bleeding, black stools, blood in vomit, fever, fainting or new palpitations. Sudden neurological changes or severe headache may signal a serious complication. Liver problems and new skin cancers are additional reasons for regular follow-up.<\/p>\n

Interactions<\/h2>\n

Strong CYP3A inhibitors such as clarithromycin, itraconazole, posaconazole or ritonavir can substantially increase exposure. Moderate inhibitors require a different management plan; they are not all contraindicated. Strong or moderate inducers may reduce cancer control. Warfarin should not be coadministered under the EMA label; other anticoagulants and antiplatelets increase bleeding risk and need individual assessment. Oral digoxin or methotrexate requires administration separation. Venetoclax is an established combination in specified CLL regimens, with protocol-based safety monitoring rather than a blanket prohibition.<\/p>\n

Pregnancy and breastfeeding<\/h2>\n

Avoid pregnancy during treatment and for three months afterwards using the recommended effective contraception. Ibrutinib should not be used during pregnancy. Breastfeeding should stop during treatment because an infant risk cannot be excluded.<\/p>\n

Adverse effects<\/h2>\n

Diarrhoea, bruising, rash, nausea, musculoskeletal pain and infections are common. Blood tests may show neutropenia or thrombocytopenia. Report new or worsening symptoms promptly.<\/p>\n
