Increased gastric pH reduces absorption of the original acalabrutinib hard-capsule formulation.
Clinical significance and safety
Avoid combining the original acalabrutinib hard capsules with the proton-pump inhibitor in Acalabrutinib plus Losec (Omeprazole). Simply separating the doses may not prevent the interaction because acid suppression lasts longer. The newer film-coated acalabrutinib tablet does not have the same acid-reducer restriction. Ask the pharmacist to confirm the exact formulation before applying this warning.
